WHO IS JUAN VERDE
Juan Verde is an international strategist working for both the public and private sectors. He designs innovative solutions to attract foreign investment, boost economic development, establish strategic alliances, and specializes in sustainable economics. He has collaborated with prominent political figures such as former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former Vice President Al Gore, the late Senator Ted Kennedy, and former Secretary of State John Kerry. He has worked with the governments of Lithuania, Gibraltar, and the United States, as well as with numerous governors and mayors in Latin America.
In the corporate sector, he has advised prestigious companies such as Google, Cisco, SAS, and Banco Santander in the United States. He has also collaborated with institutions such as the Inter-American Development Bank, Harvard University, and the World Bank.
During the Obama administration, Juan Verde was Deputy Assistant Secretary for Europe and Eurasia at the Department of Commerce of the United States Government. As a White House official, he led the department’s efforts to address trade policy and market access issues for American companies. He was also responsible for developing policies and programs to promote economic and trade relations with 52 countries in the region.
Other notable achievements in his career include his role as founder and President of the American Chamber of Commerce in the Canary Islands and his position as International Trade Advisor for the U.S. Department of Commerce during Bill Clinton’s second term.
As an advocate for environmental causes, sustainability, and the fight against climate change, Juan Verde collaborated with former Vice President Al Gore to establish and lead branches of his foundation, “Climate Reality Project,” in Spain and Argentina.
Currently, he chairs the Advanced Leadership Foundation, an American non-profit institution whose mission is to train the next generation of leaders through the development of professional skills to increase their competitiveness as agents of change in society.
Juan Verde holds a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University and graduated Cum Laude in Political Science and International Relations from Boston University. He has also completed additional studies at Georgetown University and Tufts University. He has served on the boards of directors of companies and universities such as Harvard University, Abengoa, and the International Board of Lithuania.
Among other recognitions, Juan Verde has been knighted by the Sovereign Order of the Ecumenical Knights of Rhodes and Malta, and his work has been recognized by Pope Francis.
Currently, Juan Verde and his family divide their time between the United States and Spain. In his free time, he enjoys outdoor activities such as horseback riding and hiking, and is an avid marathon runner.
